_SHOW_SHOW: Just Wait Another Million Years + The Next Song

  • Crespo Studio 27 Berliner Straße Frankfurt am Main, HE, 60311 Germany (map)

Join g.a.d.o. and Tedious Work and become part of our supergroup, planning our first and only concert in a million years time.

How are we waiting for the show? Can you hear the past? What can we learn from the future?

There might be things to see, things to do, things to dream. Hoping to warm you up and make you appropriately excited and enthusiastic will be the dillydally-collective gärtnerpflichten exhibiting as support band.

One thing is certain, however: There will be T-shirts.

More details below:

The exhibition __show__show: Just Wait Another Million Years and performances of The Next Song inside the exhibition (at specific times) will take place between the 18th of April 2024 and the 26nd of April at Crespo Studio in Haus des Buches (Berliner Straße 27, Frankfurt am Main). Together with g.a.d.o. (great artists doing okay, Lena Skrabs &  Paloma Sanchez-Palencia) we will kick-off the making of our joint concert which will happen in exactly one million years (18th of April 1002024 at latitude 50.11141586303711 & longitude 8.683789253234863).

Below we have listed the opening and performance times. The exhibition times are built around our live-events and on two mornings when there will be school classes visiting. Each one of our performances will be a different happening, which is why the durations are variable. In the list below, you’ll find more information about what to expect at each of the performances. Two of the shows are family-compatible and during the other two shows there will be a separate programme for kids. Our friend, the artist and pedagogue Jorma Foth will build yoghurt-cup planes together with the kids and race them through the space next doors, so please bring your kids and/or tell your art-interested friends with kids. Everything will be for free but we’d appreciate if you could bring empty yoghurt-cups for the kids and if you plan on bringing kids to let us know in advance via mail to tediouswork (at) liebt-dich.de so we can plan a bit better.

In the first performance of The Next Song we’ll play a one-song-concert together (no musical knowledge necessary) and make a pact to stage our song again in 16 years’ time. Also you’ll have the unique opportunity to experience the eulogy that will be performed in your memory, if you should pass away before 2040.

Saturday 20.04. 15:00-17:30 (family-friendly performance)

In order to be better prepared for thinking about our concert in a million years‘ time, on Saturday we’ll learn about how our planet sounded a million years ago and what is still left from this time. For that we’ll make an excursion together and get an exclusive tour. Our trip starts from the entry of the exhibition, at Berliner Straße 27. (On this day, the exhibition itself is only open after the excursion.)

Wednesday 24.04. 19:00-20:00 (family-friendly performance)

What will the world be like in one million years, when our okay concert is going to take place? Our assumption: Lots of water. Which cultural techniques could help us to think about the concert on such a planet? For Wednesday’s Next Song we’ve invited a surfing-coach to give us a dry crash course in her discipline.

Thursday 25.04. 19:00-20:00 (childcare available - please register at tediouswork@liebt-dich.de

In our final show of The Next Song Paul & Leander have prepared a new one-hour-song for you. It will be about everything that we’ve always wanted to mention in-between-songs and have never been able to, yet.

Hosted by „The flying artist’s house“, a programme by Crespo Foundation, in cooperation with the Hessian Ministry for cult, education and prospects and the Hessian Ministry for science, research, art and culture. The Next Song was additionally funded by Kulturamt of the city of Frankfurt am Main.

For those still keen for more information here for context here is a little more information on the fliegende Künstlerzimmer residencies that brought us together: G.A.D.O. Leander Ripchinsky
